Dear Mr. Vance,
Is this one of the guys in “Cowboy Hats” you are worried about?
PETER GOLDMARK has a life-long involvement with wheat ranching, science and public service. After receiving his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from UC Berkeley in 1971, Goldmark returned to the family wheat and cattle ranch. He was appointed Director of the Washington State Department of Agriculture in 1993 by Governor Lowry. Goldmark is currently a member of the Washington State University Board of Regents and served as President of the Board and chairman of the presidential search committee in 1999-2000. He has published papers in national and international scientific journals on plant molecular genetics and currently runs a wheat breeding program for crop improvement.
Sounds like this is the kind of guy that could give McMorris a run for her (or at least Tom Delay’s) money.

I hope that Dr. Goldmark starts to spread his message here in Eastern Washington. Sadly, the Right wing hacks will soon start the negative ad campaign that they are famous for. The sooner Dr. Goldmark can relay his credentials to the voters, the better. I will personally be spreading the word about Dr. Goldmark starting now. I encourage all those who feel we need a change in congress, Democrat or Republican, to support Dr. Goldmark. Without a balance of power our government is basically a dictatorship. Please support Dr. Goldmark for Congress.

Rarely does someone with Peter Goldmark’s intelligence, integrity and credentials place himself in the political arena these days. His experiences as a rancher, father, scientist and policy-maker place him in a category by himself. His character is impeccable. His candidacy is a gift of potentially immense value to eastern Washington, and, by extension, to our entire state. Send those cowboy boots to The Other Washington this fall!

McMorris is an embarassment to all E. Wa. residents regardless of party affiliation and the more I’ve learned of Dr. Goldmark the more jazzed I am to support his campaign,But, can’t find a campaign website, Whats up with that?

Of all the strengths I admire in Dr. Peter Goldmark, his common sense ranks high.
It’s no easy task to pursue election without selling your soul for the dollars required for campaigning. But I watch him trying. I have observed a man who holds fast to his sense of ethics, displays a reverence for life, and is passionate about those needs that touch his community and country.
He has an intellectual curiosity that runs the gamut from scientific research to wondering “what his constituents really think are critical issues”. He insures notes are taken so he won’t lose their ideas. He can admit when he is not fully informed about something and ask for further information.
That curiosity led to exploring alternative energy sources, war in Iraq, health care, tribal and veterans issues, education, business and rural community needs and ethics in Congress!
McMorris’ phony television ad accusing Dr. Peter Goldmark of being a “dreaded taxman” is a far cry from his stated concern about excessive taxes burdening constituents.
Okay,I confess - I like his sense of humor best! When Goldmark said “I wear cowboy boots so that I can walk through the kind of stuff that my opponent is shoveling out” …he got my vote!

Eastern Washington can’t find a better Representative than Mr. Peter Goldmark. I’ve know him my whole life. I grew up in Okanogan and spent a lot of time with him and his family. He is one of the most honest, patient, sincere, hard-working and incredibly intelligent people I have ever met. This is a man who literally has devoted his life to making Eastern Washington a better place to live.
Cathy Mcmorris however, is a phony. She doesn’t have the best interests of Eastern Washington in mind. She doesn’t have anywhere near the Credentials that Peter has.
And last but not least I feel Mr. Goldmark’s most admirable quality, is the down to earth feeling you get when around him. He is the type of person whom I would normally be intimidated speaking to. But when you speak to him you can tell he isn’t just waiting for his turn to speak. He really listens. And makes you feel like what you are saying is important. He doesn’t care about fame, expensive cars, or money. He cares about people. If you get the chance to meet this amazing man, you’ll understand what I mean.

Besides, Mr. Goldmark “endorses’ Bernard DeVoto, one of Joe McCarthy’s
targets in the 1950’s. ( An environmentalist who stressed conservation.)
