Apparently the 5th District has garnered national attention;

Keith Olberman 10/20/06

mostly in reference to Republican efforts in "Washington's" 5th district!!

Besides, Mr. Goldmark "endorses' Bernard DeVoto, one of Joe McCarthy's
targets in the 1950's. ( An environmentalist who stressed conservation.)

Eastern Washington can't find a better Representative than Mr. Peter Goldmark. I've know him my whole life. I grew up in Okanogan and spent a lot of time with him and his family. He is one of the most honest, patient, sincere, hard-working and incredibly intelligent people I have ever met. This is a man who literally has devoted his life to making Eastern Washington a better place to live.

Cathy Mcmorris however, is a phony. She doesn't have the best interests of Eastern Washington in mind. She doesn't have anywhere near the Credentials that Peter has.

And last but not least I feel Mr. Goldmark's most admirable quality, is the down to earth feeling you get when around him. He is the type of person whom I would normally be intimidated speaking to. But when you speak to him you can tell he isn't just waiting for his turn to speak. He really listens. And makes you feel like what you are saying is important. He doesn't care about fame, expensive cars, or money. He cares about people. If you get the chance to meet this amazing man, you'll understand what I mean.

Of all the strengths I admire in Dr. Peter Goldmark, his common sense ranks high.

It’s no easy task to pursue election without selling your soul for the dollars required for campaigning. But I watch him trying. I have observed a man who holds fast to his sense of ethics, displays a reverence for life, and is passionate about those needs that touch his community and country.

He has an intellectual curiosity that runs the gamut from scientific research to wondering “what his constituents really think are critical issues”. He insures notes are taken so he won’t lose their ideas. He can admit when he is not fully informed about something and ask for further information.

That curiosity led to exploring alternative energy sources, war in Iraq, health care, tribal and veterans issues, education, business and rural community needs and ethics in Congress!

McMorris’ phony television ad accusing Dr. Peter Goldmark of being a “dreaded taxman” is a far cry from his stated concern about excessive taxes burdening constituents.

Okay,I confess - I like his sense of humor best! When Goldmark said “I wear cowboy boots so that I can walk through the kind of stuff that my opponent is shoveling out” ...he got my vote!

[...] Ahhhh… a topic that doesn’t piss me off. Not that I am an angry person but the latest batch of republican shanannigans had me a bit riled up. It has been a crazy week watching republican congressional cave in to the weight of it’s own idiocy. But the bright spot in all of this for me is Peter Goldmark. When I first heard his name I knew that there was a possible candidate that had what it takes to bring Eastern Washington back to reality. And Peter just keeps looking better. A recent poll shows him gaining ground. · Goldmark’s aggressive campaign has cut the margin to 7 points, with 38% supporting Goldmark and 45% supporting McMorris. McMorris remains stuck well below 50% of the vote despite her incumbency and name recognition advantage. · McMorris’ job performance rating is 13 points net negative. Just 37% rate McMorris’ job rating as good or excellent versus fully half (50%) who say it is just fair or poor, for a net negative job performance rating (-13). [...]

[...] Ahh, more on Peter Goldmark. I gotta tell you I have been thinking that this is the guy a district like Washington’s 5th needs since I first heard his name. After doing a little research it became obvious that Peter could reach out to voters across party lines with a progressive and fundamentally sound message that transcends the identity his district has absorbed. [...]

Yes he does. I have newer posts on Peter as well on http://www.mccranium.org

This one is actually a bit old and prior to him announcing he would run. We were always hoping and well... He came through. Lets just hope he can raise the money.

McMorris is an embarassment to all E. Wa. residents regardless of party affiliation and the more I've learned of Dr. Goldmark the more jazzed I am to support his campaign,But, can't find a campaign website, Whats up with that?

Rarely does someone with Peter Goldmark's intelligence, integrity and credentials place himself in the political arena these days. His experiences as a rancher, father, scientist and policy-maker place him in a category by himself. His character is impeccable. His candidacy is a gift of potentially immense value to eastern Washington, and, by extension, to our entire state. Send those cowboy boots to The Other Washington this fall!
