Dave Reichert - Bush’s Foot Soldier in the 8th
While the Seattle Times was endorsing Dave Reichart. The rest of us are laughing. If the Seattle Times figures Dave Reichert is a moderate republican, this should put things into perspective.
I’ll tell you that back in Washington there are lots of games played and I just want to give you, we talk about freedom and we talk about America and we talk about the dream. The dream has to include everybody and there has to be compromise and we can’t have, I’ve been to district meetings in my district where people have said, “why in the world should I vote for you. It’s just like voting for a democrat for crying out loud.” I am going to vote libertarian and I said, “you know what sir, that would be a huge mistake and here’s why.” I’ve tried to explain to this person how things work a little bit back in Washington D.C. and why certain votes have to be taken. Sometimes the leadership comes to me and says “Dave we want you to vote a certain way” and they know I can do that over here. Another district isn’t a problem but over here I have to be very flexible of where I placed my votes. The big picture here is to keep the seat, keep the majority, and keep the country moving forward with republican ideals. Especially on the budget and protecting our troops who’re protecting this country and how that will be responsible with taxpayer dollars. That’s the big picture. Not the vote I place on ANWAR that you may not agree with or the vote that I placed on protecting salmon. You have to be flexible. So when the leadership comes to me and says , Dave you have to vote over here because we want to protect you and keep this majority, I do it. There are sometimes when I say no I won’t. There are sometimes when things come to the floor like Schiavo. I was one of five republicans that voted with the Democrats on Schiavo because that was the right thing to do.
This isn’t unique to Reichert. This statement covers Washington States entire republican congressional representation. They represent a party, not the people. Even when their own party is a failure. When will it be about the people?
Go read Goldy’s post. Go read the whole damn thing including the links. This is the reality we have folks. If you like that reality, go vote for Reichert, McMorris, or Doc Hastings. If your sick of it. Open up that ballot you got today and vote for your districts Democratic Congressman. Darcy Burner, Peter Goldmark and Richard Wright need your support! This is your challenge (unless you like tragic comedies so much that you would rather vote republican). I challenge you to make a difference. Support these candidates HERE.

I didn’t get my ballot today (10/18/06)
When is that double video automatic sound that messes withthe
music when you tune in going to be fixed?
Is there a link to see the Burner/Reichert debate? I guess it
was smokin’.

Got my ballot yesterday (10/19). I gave a bit of money to Goldmark and at least try not to hurt Darcy by name association. But what I REALLY want is for Richard Wright to BEAT DOC. I don’t care if it’s by 1 vote, just so that shameless hack is no longer my Congressional representative! I honestly don’t know how I could continue living among people stupid enough to send that b&stard back to DC. It gives me a stomach ache.
GO RICHARD!!!

Helen, that the videos playing are likely due to your browser plugins set to autoplay. Since you have a Mac I’m not sure how to change that.

Darci - You will not beat Dave Reichert in two weeks !!! I know you are the real Darci, no matter what you say…

Funny… no Darci is not Darcy. LOL
I dunno Hindu, Burner has a real shot and I think she is going to win this one. And I think the 5th is going to Goldmark. It will be very close no matter what.

Jimmy - I guess Burner has a shot if the DNC comes up with one of its weekly ’scandals’ - this time about Reichert - at the last moment (see: Bush DUI). Other than that Darcy is fading I think - she’s a real lightweight. Not sure where they came up with her.
Goldmark, on the other hand, is not a lightweight. But he’s a hard left liberal in a district that doesn’t want to become Europe West. Uphill battle for him.
My prediction: Doc, Cathy, AND Reichert hold. And … McGavick pulls off the upset.
Just the optimist here. I can see you are the same. Best of luck to you.

Re: my mac: Gordon spent the better part of an evening trying to get this
straight, finally had to put you under RSS format.
To last comment by HINDU: Darci i a lightweight? Dave Reichert’s response
to experience was “well I know what it’s like to have a gun pointed at me”.
Gee, so do a lot of wild fauna, (not to mention a few hominids in the
metropole are he represents!

LMAO Helen. “Dave Reichert- at least as much experience as a varmint!” Woo-eeee!
Hindu- you’re a funny, funny person. Hilarious, even!
“McGavick pulls off the upset”- what a knee-slapper!

Pretty optimistic on McGavick Hindu. NRSC pulled his cash, he is behind 15 points, and Cantwell is getting some glowing press. I know he can’t walk on water.

Judging from the smiles surrounding Darcy Burner, Maria Cantwell,
and BARACK OBAMA last week in Bellevue things look good for
Ms. Burner!
