Quote of the week - Doc Hastings
I sometimes wonder if a revengeful congress is a good thing. Being that I enjoy it when the parties enjoy bipartisanship, I have little sympathy for Doc Hastings.
Rep. Doc Hastings, R-Wash., took to the House floor to complain.
“I have to ask when, when will this House have the opportunity to debate and consider the bills?” he said. “When will the minority be permitted to truly participate in this process?”
But Slaughter, chairwoman of the all-important Rules Committee, which structures how bills come to the House floor, was hearing none of it.
“Just a month ago, the minority was the majority,” she replied. “If he thinks the things he points out today were serious problems, he should have fixed them then.”
My district officially has no voice in congress.

Even when he was part of the majority, your district and mine had little actual voice in congress

Poor, poor Doc! Thomas Jefferson said it so much better: “I quake for my nation when I reflect that God is just.”

Next, “Doc” will complain that the House Government Oversight Committee has actually started investigating a Member’s ethics BEFORE the feds haul said Member out of our House in chains. As “Doc” himself might say, “Remember, Randy Cunningham and Bob Ney are innocent until — uh, never mind.”

Did the so-called ethics commitee start it’s investigation of William Jefferson(D) yet, and I’ve just missed it?

BA Ha Ha! Love the cheese and whine comment.
Since the only thing left to say about our current lack of effective representation in the US House of Representatives is “I TOLD you so, you hard right ninnies”, I will say nothing.

Let’s all admit that these sorts of things aren’t exclusive to one party or the other…..

A powerful Philadelphia politician charged with a litany of federal corruption offenses is accused of illegally using state government resources to help his political allies, including Democratic Sens. John F. Kerry of Massachusetts and Robert P. Casey Jr. of Pennsylvania.
According to a 139-count federal indictment returned Tuesday, Vincent J. Fumo, an eight-term Democratic Pennsylvania senator, dispatched a state computer technician to help set up campaign operations for a 2004 presidential candidate, a 2002 Pennsylvania gubernatorial candidate and a congressional candidate. And, the indictment charges, Fumo directed a state-paid investigator to dig up dirt on the gubernatorial candidate’s opponent for the Democratic nomination.

Obviously. But that’s not what this post is really about.
Frankly, I always thought the “vote for Wright, cuz Doc will be a minority pariah” message was pointless. Since when do people in this area care about things like effective representation or planning for the future? They want conservative pap and lower taxes above all else.
