Because the national economic failure has nothing to do with republicans like Doc Hastings…
REP. DOC HASTINGS, (R) WASHINGTON: Why should American taxpayers who are making their mortgage payments each month or who are paying rent, have to come along and fund billions of dollars in giveaway grants and zero interest loans for those who speculated, gambled and lost.
Ahhh… “Compassionate Conservatism”.
I’m just sayin!

Sounds to me like Hastings has a point. Why should I bail out a bunch of irresponsible borrowers? I had a chance to take advantage of those SIDA and NINA loans. . .and knew they were BS, bad for me and the community. But now I get to pay for others who couldn’t exercise even a moment of common sense?

My problem is that the average homeowner that got wrapped around the axle on this wasn’t the one making the gamble. Lenders made the gamble. The home buyer was the hopeful chip on the table.
I understand where you are coming from but the real exercise of common sense was in the lenders hand. They bluffed.
