And by the way... I'm still perfectly willing to allow you to comment on this site. Kinda like... you know... Democracy! Doesn't look like you are interested. If you had open comments, you would have different opinions. Perhaps (and very very likely) from Republicans! Or are Republicans who support civil rights not "serious" enough?

Thanks Brian... that's been common knowledge for some time but doesn't get near enough exposure.

Nicole, it seems to me the "serious'" republicans are not in charge of much in the Franklin County Republican Party. And it's always interesting when Prop 8 comes up and the argument that Mormons were persecuted when they spent millions of dollars to deny citizens rights. Oh the horror! Seriously though, does that argument really doesn't hold water when a well funded effort - not unlike the civil rights push - to deny a class of citizens the same rights as every other citizen, is crafted by a religious organization? And what were their expectations after throwing all that money in the pot? A parade? The separation of church and state is not nearly as enforced as it should be in my opinion. If it were, the Mormon church would be a taxed business.

If Republicans in Franklin County Washington are smart, they will show up in force and run the lot of you right out of the fray and return the local party to the group of smart, fiscally conservative, observant and thoughtful group that they can be and shun the birther uber morality hypocrites you have all become. I really miss the republican party. I do...

From FPIW's own website:

<em>"The Family Policy Institute of Washington is the state associate for Focus on the Family, a non-profit organization founded by Dr. James Dobson..."

</em>Saying they're not Focus on the Family is like saying a locally owned McDonald's isn't a real McDonald's.

Yes, I do moderate comments to watch out for wild rumor mongers who cry censureship to get people to publish their nonsense. Our blog is for serious Republicans in our county, not anyone else. Too bad you are standing by your source. I guess you don't care for truth. As for damage control, I don't deny that we voted for this but I would like to see others be truthful about what really happened. Too bad your source was so threatened by what really happened that he found it necessary to exaagerate his account. And too bad someone exercising a legitimate right to disagree has to deal with websites that only know how to lie and call names. I see that you don't really talk about the issue, you just demean those who disagree. It is instructive that a simple direct disagreement can be characterized as mob rule. I guess your side is pretty touchy.
And by the way, there was no rep for Focus on the Family at this meeting. There was a rep from Family Policy Institute of Washington ( http://www.fpiw.org/index.php?section=6 ) And he was invited by another member~ not be me or Brenda High. We were pleased to meet him too. But this was a spontaneous vote.
And by the way Brenda High has spent her life fighting bullies, so your characterization of her as proponent of "mob rule" at this meeting is dispicable. If you want to see a true mob, which I doubt you do, check out the pictures of how California Mormons were treated after Prop 8 passed. Then you will have to face the truth of who the real bullies are in this debate. That is~ if you can face it.

Don't get me wrong. I am in agreement with what Maureen Walsh stands for. Gays are citizens, deserving of the same rights as the rest of us. Nobody has the right to vote otherwise on issues concerning basic rights of Americans.

Yes, you can say she leaves the bs at home, because there's a lot of it. I have tried to be a friend and supporter of Maureen Walsh for years, and all she's ever been is cold to me. When I say I've tried, I really have.

Nicole,

Your comment looks like damage control to me and I'll stand by my source. This is hardly wild rumor". Just looking at <a href="http://franklincountyrepublicans.blogspot.com/" rel="nofollow">http://franklincountyrepublicans.blogspot.com/</a> is pretty telling in of itself. The only laughable item I can find in all of this is how Franklin County Republican organization has become so narrowly focused on the issues. And highlighting that is voting to censure an accomplished legislator over the issue of gay rights. Be it the vote, or the sponsorship... doesn't really matter now does it.

I noticed you moderate comments on your site. Well, I don't moderate here and welcome you to comment anytime. You should do the same... unless you are afraid of dissent from within your own ranks?

Your source <em>severely</em> over hyped his account. This is laughable. Could you not think of any more adjectives to describe something you know nothing about? Amusing. I'm afraid you would have been bored had you been there. No wonder the need for embellishment.
PS We weren't censuring her for her vote, but for her sponsorship. Please read a little more carefully next time and refrain from spreading wild rumors. Good chuckle though.

The fringe right of the GOP has targeted Walsh before and failed horribly, and if they try again the result will be similar. She runs up 70% in the district, clearly earning support from across the ideological spectrum. She's a great fit for the independent-thinking 16th district.

A true friend! An individual who leaves the bs at home and gets down to business! I have lived here 3 years,(from the west side) and I have become a huge supporter of her. An honest friend.
Finally a Republican with true values for "all families." First, however, she is a proud American. She does not pass judgement; rather she nurtures and expresses acceptance in that all citizens should be provided rights and responsabilities equally. There is no trunceing here of traditional families; in providing equal rights and values to everyone! She is unafraid to stand up against ignorance and tired old fear mongoring. She gets down to the business of serving all Washtonians and all the while, careing for her three children! She is amazing. She runs circles around most of us!
In Walla Walla, she is eagerly anticipated at the Farmers Market weekends- as much for the delicious sweet onion /sausage dogs her family makes and sells as for her friendly greetings! College Place/Walla Walla is proud to call her our state representative , and true friend. I'm confidant a majority of citizens that she represents wholey supports her legislative efforts. Look at ALL her achievements. Hang in there Maureen. Terrific state rep. Good friend! You are truly appreciated.
