Teva Canada Ltd. is recalling one lot of Pharmasave Advanced Relief Eye Drops and Compliments Advanced Relief Eye Drops due to a packaging error. Some bottles may contain ingredients not listed on the label that may pose health risks to those allergic to the ingredients.

The products are used for the temporary relief of eye redness due to minor irritation, burning sensation and dry eyes. They are labeled for use by adults and children 6 years and older.

Following a complaint regarding Pharmasave eye drops, the company identified that certain bottles of a batch of Pharmasave and Compliments products may have been packaged with another eye drop product containing different active ingredients. 0.25% glycerin and 0.012% naphazoline HCl were present in bottles that were labeled to contain 0.1% Dextran 70, 1% Povidone, 1% Polyethylene glycol 400, 0.05% tetrahydrozoline hydrochloride.

Naphazoline hydrochloride or glycerin may cause a reaction in people allergic to these ingredients. Signs of an allergic reaction include a rash and itching or swelling, especially of the face, tongue, and throat.

The affected Pharmasave and Compliments eye drop cartons bear lot number AR21C03. Affected cylinders may be labeled with lot number AR21C03 or RL21D01.

Health Canada monitors the company’s recall and the implementation of all necessary corrective and preventive actions. If additional safety information is identified, Health Canada will take appropriate action and notify Canadians as needed.
